Huffington Post: Lindsey Graham Dodges Major Primary Challenge

Posted: 04 May 2014 06:47 AM PDT

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Here's how Sen. Lindsey Graham is navigating through six challengers in South Carolina's Republican primary: goodwill, shrewd politics and nearly $7 million in campaign cash.

Rep. Mick Mulvaney was thought to be a credible challenger in the June 10 primary, until Graham inspired House leaders to give Mulvaney a seat on the House Financial Services Committee. Mulvaney opted against challenging the two-term senator.

Posted: 04 May 2014 07:00 AM PDT

Hundreds of pit bull lovers gathered at the U.S. Capitol on Saturday for a demonstration against "breed-specific legislation" -- laws that ban or otherwise restrict ownership of dogs by breed, most often aimed at pit bulls.

"Thank you for coming today," shouted comedian Rebecca Corry, who organized the Million Pibble March -- "pibble" being the affectionate name for pitties -- on behalf of her dog Angel, who'd been severely abused by a previous owner. "And f*ck the anti-pit bull people!"
