Huffington Post: 10 Simple Ways To Change Your Life In 2 Minutes A Day

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:39 AM PDT

Making a positive change in your life does not have to be about making a huge leap. But I believe that belief is one of those things that hold people back from improving their life and world.

A simpler way that more often results in actual action being taken and new habits being established - in my life at least - is to take smaller steps but many of them. So here are 10 ways to change your life in just 2 minutes or so a day. Through these small steps you can start to build habits that become stronger and over time can change your life in ways you perhaps can't imagine now.

To remember to actually do one of the things below each day write down a simple reminder. Put it on your night table so that you see it when you wake up each morning. Or put the note in your workspace so you see it early in your day. If you like and if possible, expand on the small habit after a week or two and do it for just a few more minutes a day.

Huffington Post: '25 By 2025' Renewable Energy Plan Draws Concern From Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:40 AM PDT

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is far from energized about a proposed ballot measure that would obligate the state's utilities to generate 25 percent of their electricity from renewable energy sources by 2025.

The Associated Press reports that although the governor has yet to take a formal stand on the issue, he has concerns about the financial viability of using wind, solar, hydropower and biomass to meet Michigan's energy needs.

"I'm not sure on the face of it that it makes a lot of sense," Snyder told the AP during an interview at the Detroit Regional Chamber's annual Mackinac Policy Conference. The business interest group announced at the same conference that it opposes the measure.

Posted: 31 May 2012 10:42 AM PDT

Alarm bells over the lack of high-tech workers in the U.S. have been ringing for years, turning the story into near-legend.

But is the worker shortfall still a fact? While a consensus is elusive, many industry experts say yes, and the problem is growing.

"When I hear from employers that there is a shortage, I believe them," says Steve Langerud, director of professional opportunities at DePauw University and a workplace consultant.

Huffington Post: Fall TV Preview: 35 New And Returning Shows Starring Latinos (PHOTOS)

Posted: 30 May 2012 10:22 AM PDT

The networks have announced 39 new series for the 2012-2013 TV season. Of those 39, only seven shows feature Latino actors, and only one show (NBC's quirky comedy "Animal Practice"), features a Latino actor (Cuban-American actress, JoAnna Garcia Swisher) in a lead role.

Given the lack of Latino talent in front of the camera on TV this fall, there's no doubt that this is "a disappointing television season for the Latino community," as Janet Murguia, National Council of La Raza President, said in a blog for HuffPost.

So where can you catch Latino stars on TV this fall? On returning shows! From "Grey's Anatomy" to "Revenge" to "The Vampire Diaries" and "Dexter," Latinos are a part of just about every great primetime show that'll be back for another season in September.

Huffington Post: January Jones Talks Fat Betty, Julianna Margulies On Being 'The Good Wife' And More Drama Actress Confessions

Posted: 30 May 2012 10:23 AM PDT

January Jones became Fat Betty for a reason. When the actress started Season 5 of "Mad Men," she was eight months pregnant. By the time filming the season had wrapped, she had a five month old. In an effort to conceal her pregnancy, her character Betty put on the pounds.

"I was in seven hours of prosthetics every morning, trying to rip off a fake chest piece so I could breastfeed," Jones said in a new roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Jones, Julianna Margulies of "The Good Wife," Claire Danes of "Homeland," Kyra Sedgwick of "The Closer," Emmy Rossum of "Shameless" and Mireille Enos of "The Killing" all sat down for an interview with THR to discuss being leading dramatic actresses on TV.

When asked about the Fat Betty direction, Jones said she "loved it." "I didn't want to try to hide it. I thought it would become comical and weird," Jones said. "I also didn't want to have the character become pregnant because it just wouldn't make sense -- she had just had one. And I thought it would be something fun, not realizing it was going to be a pain ... It was definitely difficult, but I love what [Matt Weiner] did with the character's story. Everyone likes a challenge."

Posted: 30 May 2012 10:24 AM PDT

WASHINGTON -- With less than a week until Wisconsin voters decide the fate of Gov. Scott Walker (R), the national parties are stepping up their involvement in the state's recall battles.

On Thursday, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), chair of the Democratic Governors Association, is headed to Wisconsin to campaign with Walker's challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D), in Milwaukee and Madison. They will appear at public events and a pre-debate watch party/fundraiser.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, told reporters on Wednesday that he was heading to Wisconsin, his home state, this weekend. The RNC has also launched a digital effort to help Walker, with geotargeted search ads and Facebook ads, as well as "promoted tweets" tagged to various search terms.
