Huffington Post: Fall TV Preview: 35 New And Returning Shows Starring Latinos (PHOTOS)

Posted: 30 May 2012 10:22 AM PDT

The networks have announced 39 new series for the 2012-2013 TV season. Of those 39, only seven shows feature Latino actors, and only one show (NBC's quirky comedy "Animal Practice"), features a Latino actor (Cuban-American actress, JoAnna Garcia Swisher) in a lead role.

Given the lack of Latino talent in front of the camera on TV this fall, there's no doubt that this is "a disappointing television season for the Latino community," as Janet Murguia, National Council of La Raza President, said in a blog for HuffPost.

So where can you catch Latino stars on TV this fall? On returning shows! From "Grey's Anatomy" to "Revenge" to "The Vampire Diaries" and "Dexter," Latinos are a part of just about every great primetime show that'll be back for another season in September.

Huffington Post: January Jones Talks Fat Betty, Julianna Margulies On Being 'The Good Wife' And More Drama Actress Confessions

Posted: 30 May 2012 10:23 AM PDT

January Jones became Fat Betty for a reason. When the actress started Season 5 of "Mad Men," she was eight months pregnant. By the time filming the season had wrapped, she had a five month old. In an effort to conceal her pregnancy, her character Betty put on the pounds.

"I was in seven hours of prosthetics every morning, trying to rip off a fake chest piece so I could breastfeed," Jones said in a new roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Jones, Julianna Margulies of "The Good Wife," Claire Danes of "Homeland," Kyra Sedgwick of "The Closer," Emmy Rossum of "Shameless" and Mireille Enos of "The Killing" all sat down for an interview with THR to discuss being leading dramatic actresses on TV.

When asked about the Fat Betty direction, Jones said she "loved it." "I didn't want to try to hide it. I thought it would become comical and weird," Jones said. "I also didn't want to have the character become pregnant because it just wouldn't make sense -- she had just had one. And I thought it would be something fun, not realizing it was going to be a pain ... It was definitely difficult, but I love what [Matt Weiner] did with the character's story. Everyone likes a challenge."

WASHINGTON -- With less than a week until Wisconsin voters decide the fate of Gov. Scott Walker (R), the national parties are stepping up their involvement in the state's recall battles.

On Thursday, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), chair of the Democratic Governors Association, is headed to Wisconsin to campaign with Walker's challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D), in Milwaukee and Madison. They will appear at public events and a pre-debate watch party/fundraiser.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee, told reporters on Wednesday that he was heading to Wisconsin, his home state, this weekend. The RNC has also launched a digital effort to help Walker, with geotargeted search ads and Facebook ads, as well as "promoted tweets" tagged to various search terms.
