Huffington Post: Linda Clappison Convicted Of Enslaving Her Children After Fortune Teller Told Her To

Shortly after a meeting with a fortune teller, a British woman locked her children in their rooms, confiscated their lightbulbs, toys and mattresses and later made two of them work as slaves for Roma people, otherwise known as gypsies, prosecutors said. The abuse apparently lasted for six years.

Linda Clappison, of Keyingham Marsh, East Yorkshire, was convicted of two counts of child cruelty. She was sentenced to three years in prison, according to the Telegraph. Before a fortune teller told her to submit her children to this abuse, Clappison was a fine mother, her children testified.

But after the meeting, her son Andrew Clappison, now 18, told the court, "We were treated like dogs."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An unemployed Ohio man was browsing at his local thrift store for items he could restore and resell when he spotted a Picasso poster with the word "Exposition" written across the front, some French words, and the image of a warped round face. He handed over $14.14 for what he saw as a nice commercial print.

Some Internet searches later – and a closer look at markings on the lower right area – and he sold what's believed to be a signed Picasso print for $7,000 to a private buyer who wants to remain anonymous.

Gone are the days when credit card companies set up tables with free candy and other gifts to get new college students to sign up for their services.

This is the era of prepaid cards on campus.

American Express announced on Wednesday the launch of its Campus Edition Prepaid Card, a reloadable prepaid card available online and through more than 500 college bookstores operated by Barnes & Noble. The cards function much like a debit card but are not linked to a checking account.
