Huffington Post: Hurricane Sandy Linked To New York's Gay Marriage Law, Claims Rabbi Noson Leiter

Posted: 31 Oct 2012 11:17 AM PDT

A right-wing preacher's claim that Hurricane Sandy's devastation was somehow linked to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community is being backed up by a rabbi.

As Right Wing Watch is reporting, Rabbi Noson Leiter of Torah Jews for Decency called the hurricane "divine justice" for New York's same-sex marriage legislation, which was introduced in 2011.

Noting that "the Great Flood in the time of Noah was...triggered by the recognition of same-gender marriages," Leiter said, "The Lord will not bring another flood to destroy the entire world, but He could punish particular areas with a flood."

Huffington Post: 'NTSF:SD:SUV::' Sneak Peek: See Ray Liotta In His Creepiest Role Yet (VIDEO)

Posted: 31 Oct 2012 11:21 AM PDT

Ray Liotta has had some super spooky roles in his career, but his guest spot on this week's "NTSF:SD:SUV::" on Adult Swim might just be the creepiest.

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at Liotta in the season finale of "NTSF," titled "Wasilla Hills Cop" (Thurs., Nov. 1, 12:15 a.m. on Adult Swim), which finds Alphonse (Brandon Johnson) going back home to Alaska to find out who murdered his former partner and to make amends with his father, who disowned him for using a cell phone.

The episode guest stars Liotta as mail room guy Jason and "Parks and Recreation" funny lady Aubrey Plaza as The Rememberer. In our sneak peek, above, you can see Jason (Liotta) harassing Sam (Martin Starr) about becoming an NTSF agent. Why? Because he believes he was trained as a government assassin in 2006, a year he can't remember at all. Watch to see some of his assassin moves -- and his overly expressive eyebrows -- in action.

Huffington Post: Pepsi White, Orange-Flavored Clear Cola, To Get December 11 Release In Japan

Posted: 31 Oct 2012 11:25 AM PDT

Japanese blog NariNari reports that Pepsi's Japanese distributor, whiskey maker Suntory, just announced plans to release a clear, tangerine flavored version of its flagship cola called Pepsi White on December 11. As you can see in the picture above, the labels are decorated with a variety of colorful snowmen, which NariNari (through Google Translate) says are meant to celebrate "the joy of winter." The soda will only be available in Japan, and will retail for 140 yen, about $1.75 at Wednesday exchange rates.

English-language East Asian news site Rocket 24 notes that mandarin oranges are associated with the New Year in Japan, which helps explain the timing of the release.

Pepsi White will be just the latest of many limited-edition Pepsi flavors Suntory will have released in Japan in recent years. Some others have included Pepsi Pink, Pepsi Black, Pepsi Salty Watermelon and Pepsi Ice Cucumber.

Huffington Post: Hurricane Sandy: In Connecticut, Storm Leaves Mess Of Downed Trees And Flooded Roadways

Posted: 30 Oct 2012 11:10 AM PDT

Connecticut awoke Tuesday to a mess of tangled trees and submerged roads in coastal areas, leaving more than a half-million households without power across the state.

The floodwaters from Long Island Sound filled basements and crept into some homes in low-lying areas, but the surge appeared to spare homes closest to the coast from catastrophic structural damage. Many waterfront homes sit behind behind fortified seawalls or are built on higher ground.

Flooding and fallen trees overnight rendered many roads impassable. Streets closest to the water in towns such as Fairfield, Westport and Norwalk remained submerged. Residents and police were using pontoon boats to check on residents.

Huffington Post: New SGTK Toilet Doubles As Soccer Goalie (VIDEO)

Posted: 30 Oct 2012 11:10 AM PDT

As inventions go, toilets are pretty awesome, but they are really only designed to one thing: flush away waste.

The fact that a toilet can also serve as an alternative water bowl for the dog is just an unexpected bonus.

However, some scientists in Japan have created a commode that does more than transport excrement away. It also doubles as a soccer goalie.

Huffington Post: Space Shuttle Enterprise Exposed After Sandy Barrels Through Northeast (PHOTOS)

Posted: 30 Oct 2012 11:17 AM PDT

Portions of the space shuttle Enterprise have been left exposed after superstorm Sandy ripped through the Northeast Monday. The shuttle is usually enclosed in the Space Shuttle Pavilion, a structure on the deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

On Tuesday, Twitter users sent photos of the exposed space shuttle, which sits atop the decommissioned aircraft carrier. The climate-controlled nylon bubble, which The New York Post reports is like the kind used to enclose indoor tennis courts, appears to have collapsed, revealing the space shuttle's nose and tail.
