If "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" didn't already have enough hype, it just got a little more.

Commercials that aired this week for the film promote it being shown in a variety of platforms: RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and High Frame Rate, technology that makes 'The Hobbit' the first movie to screen in 48 frames per second. Traditional frame rate is 24 frames per second.

With the commercials announcing advance ticket sales with the HFR, it will start to become public which theaters are adapting the technology and how it is being received.

Huffington Post: 'Vote With Your Gum' New York City Election Posters (PICTURE)

There are lots of ways to take sample polls to try and get a feel for who may win the upcoming election, but Gumelection might just have the simplest: they make posters asking people which of the two major candidates "sucks more," and then request that people vote with their gum.

As in: take the gum they're chewing out of their mouth and stick it to the face of the person they like the least.

The results may not be too official, but at least among New York City gum-chewers it looks like Obama is the favorite.

Huffington Post: Elections 2012: Presidential Race Schedules Scrambled By Storms

LAND O'LAKES, Fla. — The big storm taking aim at the East Coast a little more than a week before the election has scrambled campaign plans, with both candidates canceling events and President Barack Obama moving up his departure for Florida to beat the storm.

In an extraordinarily tight race, Hurricane Sandy has forced Obama and Republican Mitt Romney to toss out carefully mapped-out itineraries as the candidates work to maximize voter turnout while avoiding any suggestion they were putting politics ahead of public safety. Romney canceled plans to campaign in Virginia on Sunday, opting instead to join running mate Paul Ryan in Ohio.

LOS ANGELES — A minor earthquake has rattled Southern California, shaking buildings in downtown Los Angeles.

The US Geological Survey says the 3.9 magnitude quake struck at 8:24 a.m. Sunday and was centered about 5 miles east-southeast of Santa Clarita, Calif.
