Even items as basic as shoes can be a struggle for low-income families to afford.

Which is why Foot Locker is giving out 5,000 brand new pairs of athletic shoes Thursday at the Fred Jordan Mission in downtown Los Angeles, according to a press release from the mission.

About 4,000 wristbands for shoes were passed out on Wednesday, and families started lining up at dawn on Thursday, KTLA reports.

Huffington Post: Idea Mensch's Cross-Country Tour Solicits Ideas From Entrepreneurs

In kitchens and offices, at a winery, an old theater and even in an NBA arena, entrepreneurs of all stripes convened to share their stories. Bloggers, philanthropists, a laundromat owner and a pig farmer are just some of the small business owners whom Mario Schulzke has brought together.

Schulzke is the founder of Idea Mensch, a website community dedicated to showing how ideas become reality. Over the last three months, the Idea Mensch team has driven through 37 states and made 40 stops to host events that give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to explain how they turned their dreams into businesses.

Schulzke and his team have published around 1,100 interview-style articles submitted by entrepreneurs from across the country (including some based on interviews that took place prior to the road trip). The goal is to inspire and educate potential innovators by showing the many different paths that ordinary people have taken to start their businesses.

Huffington Post: 'Pretty Little Liars' Renewed: ABC Family Orders Season 4

"Pretty Little Liars" has been renewed for a Season 4. ABC Family picked up the popular teen-oriented series for 24 new episodes.

Season 4 will kick off sometime in mid-2013, but you don't have to wait that long for a "Pretty Little Liars" fix. The series' Season 3 winter premiere is scheduled for January of 2013, and ABC Family will also air "This Is a Dark Ride," a special Halloween-themed episode of "Pretty Little Liars" on October 23 at 8 p.m. ET.

In "This Is a Dark Ride," Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are hoping for some Halloween fun after the traumatic events with Nate, but "A" is there to ruin their plans. "American Idol" veteran Adam Lambert will perform.
