NEW YORK CITY — The allegedly jilted boyfriend who police said shot and killed his former lover and her new beau at a Bronx motel last week committed suicide Tuesday after a standoff with cops in Miami, police sources said.

Joseph Kernizan, 42, refused to surrender when police cornered him in an apartment complex late Tuesday, sources said.

Huffington Post: Illinois Family Institute, Anti-Gay Hate Group, Condemns School For Transgender-Inclusive Policies

An Illinois anti-gay Christian hate group voiced its condemnation of a newly affirmed school policy for transgender-inclusion, claiming the "feckless school board has made a decision to accommodate, not the needs of gender-confused teens, but their disordered desires."

The East Aurora school board voted Oct. 15 to approve a policy that addresses the needs and rights of transgender and other non gender-conforming students, with policies such as allowing the student to use the restroom he or she associates with and using the modified name he or she has chosen, The Beacon-News reported.

On Tuesday, the Illinois Family Institue released an angry vitriol against the new transgender-inclusive policies.

Huffington Post: Many Strict Election Laws Delayed Or Blocked Before 2012 Vote

MIAMI -- Tough new election laws aimed at forcing voters in many states to show photo identification at polling places have been blocked or delayed, delighting opponents who claim they were among a variety of partisan attempts to keep minorities from voting.

Supporters of the measures nevertheless predict they will prevail in the long run. And court battles continue in some states even as the Nov. 6 election date draws near.

Huffington Post: Mae Whitman, Matt Lauria Strip Down On 'Parenthood' Set (PHOTOS)

And we thought "Parenthood" was a family show!

Although it certainly doesn't need it, the NBC show will no doubt get a boost in ratings as "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" star Mae Whitman and Matt Lauria's on-screen romance begins to heat up. The obvious sexual tension between the two characters comes to a head in these on-set photos of the pair making out on a Los Angeles beach.

Whitman is stripped down to a skirt and her bra while Lauria emerges from the water wearing only his underwear. From the looks of these photos, parenthood doesn't seem too far off for these two.
