Huffington Post: Powerball Winner Allegedly Filmed On CCTV At Maryland Gas Station (VIDEO)

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:50 AM PST

Footage from a Maryland gas station security camera allegedly captures the moment a man discovered he had a winning ticket in Wednesday's $587 million Powerball jackpot, NBC News reports.

In the surveillance video, a man dressed in what appears to be a yellow construction suit, goes to the counter with some lottery tickets. He checks his numbers with the cashier, Kamran Afgan, and realizes he has matched the jackpot numbers.

Afgan told NBC News that the man, who has not yet been identified, told him he was from Maryland and a member of the military. Powerball has not confirmed the winner yet.

Huffington Post: Chris Hayes' T-Shirt Look: Love It Or Leave It? (PHOTO, POLL)

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:51 AM PST

Chris Hayes made Casual Friday count on MSNBC today.

Twitter lit up (OK, a few people mentioned it) when Hayes appeared on "Now" wearing what appeared to be a lilac-colored, V-neck t-shirt with a blazer over it. The blazer was possibly Hayes' reluctant concession to television's seeming insistence that men turn up with some kind of long-sleeved this or that.

Here's Hayes' controversial look:

Huffington Post: John Boehner On Fiscal Cliff Deal: 'We're Almost Nowhere'

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:55 AM PST

WASHINGTON -- House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) declared Friday that "we're almost nowhere" near a deal to avoid the fast approaching fiscal cliff, lashing out at President Barack Obama for insiting on higher taxes for the wealthy.

Speaking after Obama made a pitch in Pennsylvania to let tax rates rise for the top 2 percent of earners, the GOP leader insisted the widely divergent postions expressed by both sides were not just posturing and negotiating points, but represented a genuine deadlock.

"There's a stalemate. Let's not kid ourselves," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill, insisting his side was doing all it could to find an agreement. "I'm not trying to make this more difficult. If you've watched me over the last three weeks, I've been very guarded in what I have to say, because I don't want to make it any harder for me or the president or members of both parties to be able to find common ground."

Huffington Post: Filibuster Reform Poll: Americans Favor Requiring Real Debate

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 11:00 AM PST

A majority of Americans are in favor of requiring senators who wish to filibuster a bill to actually stand up on the Senate floor and talk, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.

The survey finds that 65 percent of Americans believe senators should have to "participate in debate for the entire filibuster," a proposal that has gained ground in recent weeks as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama have thrown their support behind reform efforts. Only 9 percent of those polled said that senators should be able to filibuster without being physically present, and another 26 percent said they were unsure.

Huffington Post: Twitter Users Respond To Syria's Internet Blackout With Dial-Up Help (TWEETS)

Posted: 29 Nov 2012 10:55 AM PST

In response to Syria's Internet shutdown, Twitter users around the world have been posting dial-up numbers so that people trapped in cyber lockdown will be able to connect to the Web, tech website the Next Web reports.

According to the Associated Press, the Syrian government blocked Internet access across the country on Thursday as rebels and government troops engaged in what has been described as a "fierce battle" near the Damascus airport. Cellphone service has also been cut in "select areas" and land telephone lines are said to be "working only sporadically," Reuters reports.

This disruption in communications is the worst Syria has seen since the civil uprising began 20 months ago, according to Reuters.

Huffington Post: Obama-Romney Lunch: Former Foes Meet At White House

Posted: 29 Nov 2012 10:56 AM PST

WASHINGTON — Bitter campaign foes just weeks ago, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney met for lunch at the White House on Thursday, sitting down with an eye on overlapping interests rather than the sharp differences that defined their presidential contest.

In their first meeting since the election, Obama and the Republican nominee met in the White House's private dining room, fulfilling a promise Obama made in his victory speech the night of Nov. 6.

Huffington Post: Kim Ridley: Man Uses Scantily Clad Images Of Daughter To Sell Car On eBay

Posted: 29 Nov 2012 11:02 AM PST

Everyone knows sex sells. And when Oregon used-car salesman Kim Ridley, 60, wanted to sell his 1977 Datsun 280Z on eBay, he used images of a hot young woman to do it. But, in this case, the scantily-clad lady in the photos was Ridley's own daughter, according to media reports.

"Girls and dogs attract people's attention," Ridley told AdWeek.

Fair point, Mr. Ridley, but the move has raised some eyebrows. In one photo, prospective buyers have to look beyond 20-year-old Lexxa Ridley's butt cheeks to get a glimpse of the bright yellow vehicle. In another, they get to see her leaning seductively on the car, a lacy bra exposed. In some photos, Lexxa is wearing torn jeans; in others, she's wearing no jeans at all.

Huffington Post: Youngstown State Limits Part-Time Hours To Avoid Obamacare Rule

Posted: 29 Nov 2012 11:02 AM PST

Youngstown State University will limit the hours of non-union part-time employees to ensure that the university is not required to provide them with health insurance coverage under Obamacare.

YSU, a public institution in eastern Ohio, announced to employees earlier this month that it is restricting part-time employees, including adjunct professors and lecturers, to 29 hours a week or less. Under the Affordable Care Act, the university will have to provide health insurance to full-time employees, classified as anyone working 30 hours or more per week.

According to an email sent to English department employees, which was obtained by The Huffington Post, anyone who violates the new hourly limit will be fired:
