Huffington Post: Powerball Winner Allegedly Filmed On CCTV At Maryland Gas Station (VIDEO)

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:50 AM PST

Footage from a Maryland gas station security camera allegedly captures the moment a man discovered he had a winning ticket in Wednesday's $587 million Powerball jackpot, NBC News reports.

In the surveillance video, a man dressed in what appears to be a yellow construction suit, goes to the counter with some lottery tickets. He checks his numbers with the cashier, Kamran Afgan, and realizes he has matched the jackpot numbers.

Afgan told NBC News that the man, who has not yet been identified, told him he was from Maryland and a member of the military. Powerball has not confirmed the winner yet.

Huffington Post: Chris Hayes' T-Shirt Look: Love It Or Leave It? (PHOTO, POLL)

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:51 AM PST

Chris Hayes made Casual Friday count on MSNBC today.

Twitter lit up (OK, a few people mentioned it) when Hayes appeared on "Now" wearing what appeared to be a lilac-colored, V-neck t-shirt with a blazer over it. The blazer was possibly Hayes' reluctant concession to television's seeming insistence that men turn up with some kind of long-sleeved this or that.

Huffington Post: John Boehner On Fiscal Cliff Deal: 'We're Almost Nowhere'

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 10:55 AM PST

WASHINGTON -- House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) declared Friday that "we're almost nowhere" near a deal to avoid the fast approaching fiscal cliff, lashing out at President Barack Obama for insiting on higher taxes for the wealthy.

Speaking after Obama made a pitch in Pennsylvania to let tax rates rise for the top 2 percent of earners, the GOP leader insisted the widely divergent postions expressed by both sides were not just posturing and negotiating points, but represented a genuine deadlock.

"There's a stalemate. Let's not kid ourselves," Boehner told reporters on Capitol Hill, insisting his side was doing all it could to find an agreement. "I'm not trying to make this more difficult. If you've watched me over the last three weeks, I've been very guarded in what I have to say, because I don't want to make it any harder for me or the president or members of both parties to be able to find common ground."

Huffington Post: Filibuster Reform Poll: Americans Favor Requiring Real Debate

Posted: 30 Nov 2012 11:00 AM PST

A majority of Americans are in favor of requiring senators who wish to filibuster a bill to actually stand up on the Senate floor and talk, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.

The survey finds that 65 percent of Americans believe senators should have to "participate in debate for the entire filibuster," a proposal that has gained ground in recent weeks as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Barack Obama have thrown their support behind reform efforts. Only 9 percent of those polled said that senators should be able to filibuster without being physically present, and another 26 percent said they were unsure.
