Posted: 13 Nov 2012 10:48 AM PST The Denver Police Department hopes to save $600,000 a year by replacing some jobs that are currently held by officers, with civilians, according to a report by the Denver Post. About 30 jobs would be freed up for civilians within the next couple of weeks while police officers would likely go back to patrol assignments, though the plan has seen some initial push back from the police union which has argued that some of those jobs require police experience. Denver has already lost more than 60 officers due to budget constraints since Police Chief Robert White was sworn in about a year ago. Read More... More on Denver News |
