Huffington Post: FISA Bill Introduced To Declassify Court Opinions Used To Justify Surveillance

Posted: 11 Jun 2013 09:15 AM PDT

WASHINGTON -- Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), joined by a group of Democrats and Republicans, introduced a bill Tuesday to require the attorney general to declassify legal opinions that have been used to justify the National Security Agency's broad surveillance programs.

The bill would require significant Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) rulings to be made public. The bill's sponsors say the interpretations made by judges could be quite different than Congress' intent in passing the law.

It has the support of Sens. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Dean Heller (R-Nev.), Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Al Franken (D-Minn.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)

Huffington Post: Public Choose Works For World's Biggest Exhibition Showcasing Great British Art On Poster Sites

Posted: 11 Jun 2013 09:16 AM PDT

LONDON.- The UK will become the world's largest art gallery when a unique exhibition, Art Everywhere, will transform thousands of poster sites and billboards into iconic artworks from the national collection, to be launched on 8 August 2013. Art Everywhere is a collaborative project between Richard Reed, co-founder of Innocent Drinks, the Art Fund, Tate, and the poster industry.

The public are invited to help curate the exhibition by selecting their favourite British artworks from a shortlist published from 24 June 2013 on arteverywhere.org.uk. For one week they can choose their favourite works by 'liking' them and sharing them through Facebook. Reproductions of the most popular works – the top 50 - will be shown in the exhibition on billboard sites across the country for two weeks from 10th – 25th August.
