Huffington Post: South Korea Ferry Evacuation Delay Puzzles Experts Posted: 20 Apr 2014 09:09 AM PDT MOKPO, South Korea (AP) — It is a decision that has maritime experts stumped and is at odds with standard procedure: Why were the passengers of the doomed South Korean ferry told to stay in their rooms rather than climb on deck? Evacuations can be chaotic and dangerous, and an important principle in maritime circles is that even a damaged ship may be the best lifeboat. Huffington Post: 10 Animals Who Are Still Hurting From The BP Oil Spill Posted: 20 Apr 2014 09:12 AM PDT It's been four years since BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers and sending more than 200 million gallons of crude oil gushing into the water. Police watched, and doormen photographed protesters hoisting signs with such slogans as "Liam Neeson: Stop Supporting Cruelty!" and "Worked to Death!" with an image of a dead horse in a park. Holding the second sign was Peter Wood, an animal protection investigator for various organizations that say it's cruel for the horses to be subjected to traffic, pollution and possible accidents.
