Huffington Post: Video Of TSA Patting Down Boy, 2, And Sister, 6, Sparks Outrage

Posted: 24 Apr 2014 09:28 AM PDT

An outraged father took to YouTube to post footage of TSA agents patting down his 2-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter. The video has gone viral, prompting questions from the public about the TSA's decision to search the youngsters.

In the video, a small boy spreads his legs while a woman, possibly his mother, holds his arms out and distracts him with talk about Mickey Mouse. While he wriggles about, a male TSA agent pats down the child, feeling his legs and torso, then applauds him. "You did a good job!" the agent tells the boy

The boy's sister receives similar treatment several feet away, straddling a floor mat, arms extended, while a female TSA agent pats down every inch of her body.

Huffington Post: After Mail On Sunday 'Exposes' Food Bank Charity Operating As It Should, Donations Flood In

Posted: 24 Apr 2014 09:30 AM PDT

The British publication, Mail on Sunday, is facing harsh criticism after running an article which claimed the U.K.'s largest food bank provider, The Trussell Trust, isn't abiding by the rules.

The article, which reported that volunteers "were filmed admitting that people could take free food without checks," and that "fraudsters routinely 'take advantage' of the handouts," was mocked on social media, as many Twitter users expressed outrage over the news source's attempt to defame an organization with a worthy cause.

Others were upset an undercover reporter took food away from those who need it in the name of investigative journalism, as reporter Ross Slater described how he obtained three days' worth of food without providing identification. Slater later addressed the criticism on Twitter, saying he returned all the food and made a small donation to the food bank.

Posted: 24 Apr 2014 09:34 AM PDT

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) — Leaders of North Dakota's Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara nations say that while they are thankful for the money that oil has brought the once-impoverished Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, they are concerned about the environmental impact of drilling on their land.

The Three Affiliated Tribes opened their third annual oil and gas conference Tuesday at the 4 Bears Casino in New Town, on the northwestern North Dakota reservation. One of the first speakers to take the stage, stationed next to a banner proclaiming "sovereignty by the barrel," was Mervin Packineau, a tribal councilman.

"Our economy is really looking good," he said. "But now it's time to turn around and start protecting our land, guys."
