On Tuesday, an unidentified 18-year-old college student posted a picture of the George Washington Bridge to his Facebook page along with the the caption, "I'm thinking of jumping," the New York Daily News reports. Ensuring it is a memorable transaction for both sides, the rings' taker didn't make the deal for just any reason -- he plans on proposing to his girlfriend. Talk about a sweetheart deal. (AP) — Virginia State officials say Saturday's championship football game against Winston-Salem State has been canceled following a fight between players from both teams. Winston-Salem State spokeswoman Nancy Young said that school's starting quarterback Rudy Johnson was assaulted in the bathroom at the Anderson Conference Center on the Winston-Salem campus during a luncheon for both teams Friday. Posted: 15 Nov 2013 03:48 PM PST A four-alarm fire that broke out on Chicago's Far North Side Friday evening has destroyed a strip mall and snarled traffic for the evening rush. Plumes of heavy smoke were seen pouring from a building in Rogers Park near Peterson and Lincoln just after 4 p.m. Friday. According to NBC Chicago, the fire apparently originated in a Mid American Furniture store and spread to adjacent sores that include two salons, an optometry store a nail salon and an American Mattress. CBS Chicago reported explosions at the scene as well, possibly from transformers blowing up; the roof eventually collapsed on the building. The fire also caused power loss in the surrounding area.
