Pat Quinn (D) in his reelection race this fall, the Associated Press reports. Four Republicans vied for the nomination during Tuesday's primary. With Republicans eyeing what they view as their best shot in years to win the top job in President Barack Obama's home state, Rauner defeated three longtime state lawmakers — including the current state treasurer. Rauner spoke Tuesday after defeating state Sens. Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady and Treasurer Dan Rutherford (ROOTH'-ur-furd) in the GOP primary. Quinn easily won the Democratic nomination.
