Huffington Post: Marijuana Legalization, Taxation Supported By Majority In Hawaii: Poll

Hawaii's governor signed a bill legalizing medical marijuana back in 2000, but a new poll shows that the state's residents are ready to take it a step further.

The results of a survey commissioned by the Drug Policy Action Group and conducted by QMark Research were released on Thursday, showing 57 percent of respondents in favor of legalizing, taxing and regulating marijuana. Forty percent were opposed. According to Maui Now, that figure marks a 20 percent increase in support from a similar poll in 2005.

In addition to that, the survey showed 78 percent support for establishing dispensary system for medical marijuana.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia -- Saudi Arabia's king granted women seats on the country's top advisory council for the first time on Friday, giving them a long-awaited toehold in the ultraconservative kingdom's male-dominated political system.

King Abdullah's decrees come against the backdrop of heavy restrictions on women, who are not allowed to travel, work, study abroad, marry, get divorced or gain admittance to a public hospital without permission from a male guardian. Recently, airport authorities were instructed to send text messages to the phones of male guardians – husbands, fathers or brothers – with information about the movements of their wives, daughters or sisters.

Huffington Post: Cory Booker Files To Run For Senate 2014

Newark Mayor Cory Booker has filed paperwork allowing him to raise money to run for the U.S. Senate in 2014, setting up intrigue over his political future and that of 89-year-old Frank Lautenberg, who currently holds the seat.

Booker made the filing Tuesday with the Federal Election Commission. The prolific social media user has not tweeted about it or made any public announcements about the filing.
