Before his death, public TV host Huell Howser had said he didn't want to be the subejct of any tributes, memorials or funerals.

But the host of KCET's "California's Gold" was much too beloved to go silently into the night. Since Howser's death was announced Jan. 7, the tributes from fans, friends and admirers have been pouring in from all corners of California.

On Sunday evening came a tribute from "The Simpsons" -- a simple placard at the end of the episode "A Test Before Trying" that reads, "In memory of Huell Howser. Friend of The Simpsons and Friend of California."

Huffington Post: Mary Lee, Great White Shark, Spotted At Jacksonville Beach By Ocearch Shark Tracker (VIDEO)

Mary Lee, a massive great white shark known for her wanderlust, reached a destination last week that made observers uneasy to say the least.

The Ocearch team who had tagged the 16-foot, 3,500-pound shark in September received a ping signal that the massive animal was within 200 yards of Florida's Jacksonville Beach.

Mary Lee, named after Fischer's mom, had come way too close for comfort, penetrating the surf break, CNN reports. However, Ocearch chairman Chris Fischer called local police to clear the water until Mary Lee set up shop further at sea.
