Huffington Post: Why Family Travel Makes A Great Investment Posted: 07 Jan 2013 10:26 AM PST People always say that education is the best investment you can make in your kids. I agree. However, people forget that your children can learn from experiences outside from school. Family travel allows kids to explore new cultures, spend quality time with their parents and expand their horizons. My parents taught me this and took my brother and I to South Africa, Russia and Europe when we were kids. I have carried on this tradition and hope my children continue it. Traveling with children is neither easy nor cheap. But it is worth every penny. Both my kids got their passports mere weeks after they were born and boarded their first plane to Chile when they were three months old. With a little planning, the hassle of going through airport security and enduring an overnight flight can be minimized and once you arrive at your destination, it is so worth it. Worth every whine, every discomfort, every immigration line. Read More... More on Why We Vacation |

Posted: 07 Jan 2013 10:29 AM PST Mealbreaker (n.): a nasty, non-edible surprise found in food while it is being eaten; often lawsuit-provoking, sometimes fabricated, always disgusting. Another year, another Mealbreaker. The first certifiably gross item we've heard about this year comes courtesy of Ibrahim Langoo, a 19-year-old student who found what he described as a "wrinkled brain" inside a fried piece KFC chicken at a location in Colchester, Essex in the U.K. Read More... Huffington Post: David Vitter: Harry Reid 'An Idiot' For Comparing Sandy To Katrina Posted: 07 Jan 2013 10:33 AM PST Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) tore into Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Monday, calling him "an idiot" for suggesting last week that Superstorm Sandy had wrought more devastation on the northeast than Hurricane Katrina had on the gulf coast in 2005. "Sadly, Harry Reid has again revealed himself to be an idiot, this time gravely insulting Gulf Coast residents," Vitter tweeted on Monday, linking to report by the New Orleans Times-Picayune concluding that "Sandy devastated some of the nation's most populated areas, but it didn't come close to Katrina." Vitter also released an official statement on Reid's comments, comparing the death tolls and damage costs of the two storms. Read More... More on David Vitter |
Huffington Post: Brian Williams Makes 'Family Guy' Cameo Posted: 07 Jan 2013 10:35 AM PST Brian Williams can now add "Family Guy" character to his resumé. The NBC newsman appeared on the show in cartoon form on Sunday. He led his newscast with the day's top story: the Griffin family accidentally launching themselves into space. Williams' latest cameo comes as little surprise to those familiar with his comic stylings. Williams has made numerous cameos on "30 Rock," and is an occasional guest on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," "Late Show With David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." Read More...
