Huffington Post: American Bra Size Average Increases From 34B to 34DD In Just 20 Years, Survey Says Posted: 24 Jul 2013 10:38 AM PDT America's cup runneth over. The average bra size has jumped from a 34B 20 years ago to a 34DD in 2013, according to a new survey by lingerie retailer Intimacy. Weight gain and breast implants have played a role in the increase, Intimacy spokeswoman Kate Terhune explained to The Huffington Post, but the biggest factor is that women are choosing a more appropriate size. "Women are more educated about bra fit," she said. The chain interviewed more than 60,000 customers at its 16 stores nationwide, and compared the results to a similar study it did in 1992, Terhune said. Far more sizes are available now than in the early '90s, meaning that comfort in a larger cup could push up the mean. The company planned to publish the full results later Wednesday in a press release, Terhune said. Read More... More on Video |
Huffington Post: Huma Abedin's Red Lipstick Takes Her Through Tough Times (PHOTOS) Posted: 24 Jul 2013 10:38 AM PDT Margaret Thatcher had her handbag, Hillary Clinton has her pantsuits... and Huma Abedin has her red lipstick. Although all attention at yesterday's press conference was devoted to the (seemingly) never-ending Anthony Weiner sexting saga, we couldn't help but notice how his wife stood by his side, her crimson lips pursed. It was no doubt a difficult moment in Abedin's personal and professional life, yet she made sure she was armed with her signature shade of lipstick. "My friends will tell you that I don't like calling attention to myself," she writes in an essay for the September issue of Harper's Bazaar. "So when people tell me they're surprised to see me out on the campaign trail, I understand because, trust me, no one is more surprised than I am." It's no surprise, then, that she would choose red lips as her go-to look -- studies have shown that the lip color conveys a sense of confidence. Read More... More on Huma Abedin |
Posted: 24 Jul 2013 10:44 AM PDT Marc Anthony went back to his Salsa roots with his latest album -- but the singer-songwriter also returned with some words of advice for the Latino community concerning stereotypes in the media. On Tuesday, the 44-year-old singer stopped by HuffPost Live to discuss his newly released album "Marc Anthony 3.0" (July 23) with host Marc Lamont Hill. During the interview the star discussed his 10 year hiatus from the genre, the racist remarks over his recent performance of "God Bless America," and even his thoughts on the portrayal of Latinos in the media. Adding to a viewer's video question concerning any upcoming projects on film or television, Hill alluded to the "Devious Maids" stereotype controversy and asked the singer whether he believed there was "space to have a different kind of Latino representation." Huffington Post: Ashton Kutcher: Steve Jobs Role 'Terrified' Me Posted: 24 Jul 2013 10:45 AM PDT Ashton Kutcher plays Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in "Jobs," and while the actor certainly bears a resemblance to the late tech icon, signing on for the part wasn't necessarily the easiest decision. "The idea of playing the role terrified me," Kutcher wrote in response to a question on the site Quora about why he decided to play Jobs. "I've found that the greatest rewards I've received in my life have come from jumping at the opportunities to take on things that scare me. The chance to portray someone who not only lived but who is still very relevant and alive in the zeitgeist seemed to be a once-in-a-lifetime challenge." Kutcher said when he first read the script for "Jobs," there was a "knot" in his stomach. Read More... More on Ashton Kutcher |
