Huffington Post: Mother-Daughter Relationships: Woman Tells Iyanla Vanzant She Hates Her Mom (VIDEO) Posted: 03 May 2013 09:09 AM PDT Kim and her younger sister, Annette, had a rough childhood. The siblings say that they grew up neglected by their mother, Charlene, who frequently chose to be with controlling and abusive men -- for which they paid the price. Both Kim and Annette allege that they were physically abused by one of their mother's ex-boyfriends -- but the deepest hurt, the girls say, is knowing that their mother was aware of the abuse yet did nothing to protect them. As a result, their mother-daughter relationships have completely fallen apart. In this clip from "Iyanla: Fix My Life," Kim gets some one-on-one time with Iyanla Vanzant to unload all of the burdens, emotions and resentments that have built up inside her over the years. "Make believe I'm your mother," Iyanla tells Kim. "Let it rip." "Mom, how could you let a man come before your children?" Kim asks. "Do you realize what that caused inside of me today? He beat you, and you knew he did the same thing to us. My resentment is so strong that I have hatred toward you." Read More... More on Oprah Winfrey Network |
