But that's just happened to 4-year-old Paul Franklin of Aliso Viejo, Calif. It started when he fell and cut his knee on a rock during a family vacation to the beach, the Orange County Register reports.

When it became swollen, Paul's mom, Rachael, took her son to urgent care, where the doctor said Paul had a staph infection.

HONOLULU -- A California high school teacher who helped a shark attack victim to shore in Hawaii says the woman kept repeating that she was going to die as she went in and out of consciousness.

Fifty-seven-year-old Rick Moore of Orange County told Hawaii News Now (http://bit.ly/13pzkO1) that he heard the woman shrieking and swam to her. He says he repeatedly reassured her that she'd survive and make it to shore.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Dec. 17 trial date has been set in Palm Beach County for former tennis star Jennifer Capriati in a stalking and battery case involving her ex-boyfriend.

The 37-year-old Capriati is accused of punching Ivan Brannan while he worked out at a gym on Valentine's Day. Authorities also say Capriati stalked Brannan for months earlier. The charges are misdemeanors.
