Huffington Post: Romney Olympics: Joe Scarborough Laughs At Candidate's Gaffes In London

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 10:58 AM PDT

Joe Scarborough and the rest of the "Morning Joe" gang enjoyed a good laugh at Mitt Romney's expense on Friday morning.

Romney made the first of several gaffes in London when he questioned the city's readiness for the games on Wednesday. He made the remarks, which outraged many Brits, in an interview with Brian Williams. Prime Minister David Cameron slapped Romney's comments back, and London Mayor Boris Johnson also chided the candidate at a rally of 60,000.

On Friday, Scarborough was in disbelief that "Romney would go to London and decide to start criticizing how they're running the Olympic games." He jokingly wondered what Romney would say on his later stops in Israel and Poland. "What's he doing?!" Scarborough exclaimed. "What a stumble yesterday."

Huffington Post: Syria Crisis: Bilal el-Lababidi, 6-Year-Old Fleeing Into Jordan, Killed By Border Guards

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 11:05 AM PDT

RAMTHA, Jordan — The family crept across farmland under night's cover, heading for the border, when Syrian troops opened fire. Bullets whizzed around them as they broke into a mad dash, survivors say. The 6-year-old boy, holding his mother's hand, broke away and ran ahead. He nearly made it into Jordan when he fell dead, a bullet in his neck.

The boy, killed in the early hours Friday, was the first Syrian shot to death by border guards while trying to escape into neighboring Jordan from the bloodshed of their homeland's 17-month-old uprising against President Bashar Assad. The slaying underlined not only the dangerous of the passage, but the fine line Syria's neighbors have to tread in trying to help Syrians while avoiding being dragged into the conflict.
