Eighteen states and D.C. have passed medical marijuana legislation but in Florida, the "Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act" can't even get a hearing in the state Senate or House.

The bill has stalled in Tallahassee despite the fact that seven out of 10 Floridians support legalizing medical marijuana. Meanwhile a bill banning bongs was unanimously approved by a Senate committee.

"Shame on us as a Legislature for not taking the opportunity to hear this bill this year," House bill sponsor Rep. Katie Edwards (D-Plantation) said at a press conference on Monday.

Huffington Post: Jon Stewart's NBC Joke: Mocks Network Over 'Tonight Show', Ratings (VIDEO)

During his segment on Egyptian TV host Bassem Youssef on Monday, Jon Stewart took a pointed swipe at NBC, defending Jay Leno in the process.

While the joke was an unrelated gag intended to lighten the tone of a fairly heavy segment, Stewart didn't throw it away either. He equated NBC with a failed, dictatorial empire and then noted, "A couple of bloggers just went nuts."

We assume he was referring to someone else. Watch the clip above.

Huffington Post: Tim Phares, Applebee's Employee, Allegedly Assaulted By Coworker's Husband Over Sexual Orientation

An Applebee's server in Rice Lake, Wisc., was allegedly beaten with a 2-by-4-inch piece of wood over questions regarding his sexual orientation.

He says he was then asked not to return to work because the incident had attracted too much negative publicity for the restaurant, though Applebee's denies this allegation.

Applebee's employee Tim Phares told the Wisconsin Gazette that he and his sister were at the parking lot of a different restaurant on March 17, when an SUV pulled in behind them carrying his coworker Shannon Hendricks and her husband, Rien.

Huffington Post: Ali Abdullah Saleh, Former Yemeni President, Reportedly Travels To Saudi Arabia For Medical Treatment

SANAA, Yemen — Officials at the airport of Yemen's capital Sanaa say former president Ali Abdullah Saleh has left for Saudi Arabia for medical treatment on a special Saudi plane.

A senior member of Saleh's Congress Party confirmed Tuesday that the former president will be hospitalized at a Riyadh hospital but did not say what kind of treatment Saleh will receive. He said the party will issue a statement later.
