Huffington Post: Unplug For National Screen-Free Week With Random House Children's Books (VIDEO) Posted: 07 Apr 2013 09:14 AM PDT "I spent my entire childhood unplugged," children's book author Dan Yaccarino says in this video from Random House Children's Books. "What I really enjoyed doing was building things, drawing, writing." Yaccarino has written an adorable picture book called Doug Unplugged about a robot who is tired of downloading information day after day, and goes off on an adventure to explore the world around him. "Using their imaginations, kids can create far more interesting worlds than anything they encounter in a video game," he says. To spread Doug's message far and wide, the author has teamed up with Random House and fellow authors and illustrators, Chris Raschka (Everyone Can Learn To Ride A Bicycle), Bob Staake (Bluebird), and Tad Hills (Rocket Writes A Story), to encourage kids to follow the little robot's example and unplug for National Screen Free Week (April 29th-May 5th).
