WASHINGTON -- Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), whose name has been floated as a potential running mate for Mitt Romney, took a jab at President Barack Obama on Thursday over his comment about the private sector "doing fine."

During brief remarks at the Faith & Freedom Coalition lunch, Portman said that Obama's remark gives people "a glimpse into the failed philosophies that he has chosen" and shows how out of touch he is with middle-class America.

"He needs to get out more," Portman said to cheers and applause.

NEW YORK — New York City police investigated a report Thursday of a bar brawl involving hip-hop stars Drake and Chris Brown and their entourages in which bottles flew and five people were injured.

Brown tweeted a photo of himself with a cut chin, then later removed it, as well as other messages about the fight, including epithets and taunts.

Rick Snyder as well as the council's own two selections for the financial advisory board that will have a significant oversight function as Detroit shapes its future budgets ...

Only six members of the City Council attended the session today. Three who voted against the consent agreement -- JoAnn Watson, Brenda Jones and Kwame Kenyatta -- were absent.

According to reports from journalists on the scene, the GOP presidential candidate's campaign bus showed up at the location of President Barack Obama's scheduled campaign speech in Cleveland, Ohio, and proceeded to taunt his supporters.

The bus reportedly circled and honked at the crowd waiting for Obama. The crowd, in turn, jeered back.
