Huffington Post: National HIV Testing Day Stresses Importance Of Getting Tested For HIV/AIDS Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:35 AM PDT June 27 marks National HIV Testing Day (NHTD), designated as an annual campaign to remind Americans how and when to get tested. The "Take the Test, Take Control" initiative was reportedly developed in 1995 by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) in direct response to the growing number of HIV/AIDS infections across the country, particularly those in communities of color and other heavily impacted communities. As CBS is reporting, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourage everyone ages 13-64 get tested for HIV at least once. High-risk individuals -- including sexually active gay and bisexual men, injection drug users or people with multiple sex partners -- are urged by the agency to get tested once a year. Read More...
