LOS ANGELES — Matt Cain pitched seven strong innings, Joaquin Arias homered and drove in a career-high five runs, and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-4 on Wednesday night to extend their NL West lead to 2 1/2 games with their first three-game sweep at Dodger Stadium in five years.

The Giants arrived in Los Angeles trailing the Dodgers by a half-game and they leave with their largest lead in a month. The Dodgers last got swept at home by the Giants April 24-26, 2007.

Huffington Post: Tropical Storm Issac Path: Moves West, Will Likely Become Hurricane Friday (PHOTO, VIDEO)

Tropical Storm Isaac's path veered further westward Thursday afternoon and is likely to develop into a hurricane come Friday. Isaac threatens to unleash on Haiti.

Isaac's path was moving westward at 15 mph as of 11 a.m. Thursday, positioning about 200 miles south to southeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, with winds of 40 mph, the Palm Beach Post reported via the National Hurricane Center. The storm's path is expected to make a west to northwest turn Thursday afternoon and continue on this path through Saturday.

Brian McNoldy of the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang noted that Isaac's winds have weakened since Wednesday, but the forceful winds continue to extend out 140 miles from its center.

OSLO, Norway -- The first chapter of a terror case that has haunted Norway for 13 months will end Friday as confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik receives his judgment for attacks that left 77 people dead and more than 200 injured.

After deliberating for two months, a five-judge panel in Oslo's district court will decide whether to send the right-wing extremist to prison or a mental hospital.

I got engaged a few months ago, and at about the same time two of my other friends got engaged AND my brother's baby was born. People congratulated us, of course, but I never really got to celebrate with my family and friends. I was okay with that at the time; I was excited to be engaged, excited for my friends, and thrilled to be an aunt.
