Huffington Post: Harrison Ford House: Han Solo Lists Estate For $8.295 Million Posted: 06 Apr 2012 10:52 AM PDT Harrison Ford has listed his Brentwood home for $8.295 million. The seven bedroom, eight bathroom house was purchased by Ford in 1983 when the actor was married to his second wife, Melissa Mathison. He currently shares the estate with his wife, Calista Flockhart, and their children. The New England Traditional estate was built by Gerard Colcord, a beloved Southern California architect who designed homes for the likes of Norton Simon and Henry Fonda. Set back from the street and up a private drive, the property boasts both ocean and city-views. Ford has meticulously restored and maintained the home "with great respect for the original classic architecture," states the listing. The offering also features three detached guests suites, a library, wood-paneled formal dining room, a pool house, a workshop, and -- most importantly -- a secret bar. Read More... |
Huffington Post: New Jersey Ethics Rule Proposal Would Suspend Indicted Officials Without Pay Posted: 06 Apr 2012 10:54 AM PDT A pair of Republican lawmakers in New Jersey have proposed a new layer of ethics reform in an attempt to crack down on corruption in the historically ethically plagued state. Assemblywomen Nancy Munoz (R-Summit) and Amy Handlin (R-Middletown) have proposed legislation that would require all local officials indicted on government corruption offenses to be suspended from office without pay. Munoz said the idea for the proposal came from the arrest of 45 people statewide -- including state and municipal officials -- in a corruption sweep in 2009. "When you are an elected official, you should be held to a higher standard," Munoz told HuffPost. Read More... More on Ethics |
Huffington Post: What Art Would You Like To See Before You Die? Posted: 06 Apr 2012 10:55 AM PDT It is one of those questions we hear over and over but rarely thoughtfully answer: What do you want to do before you die? Now The Huffington Post is challenging you to really think long and hard about the question, and giving you the motivation to do so. A HuffPost team, along with the writers of the book, will pick pick a shortlist of the very best ideas. Then you'll be invited to vote for the winner -- and we will work to make that person's dream come true. Read More... More on Dreams |
